Emily Wants To Play Review: That’s Why You Shouldn’t Enter Stranger’s House

This is a classic horror survival game where you have to solve the clues in order to get out of the house with an unfriendly ghost and its creepy dolls who want to play. You can download Emily Wants To Play for Microsoft Windows, OS X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, iOS, and Android.

Graphics: 1

Bad graphics with the same effects, e.g., the boxes and chairs are the same everywhere and have the same wrinkles on them. Everything is the same color, sometimes too dark that you can’t see anything which shouldn’t be the point of this game. It would be definitely scarier if there would be more realistic graphics. Sometimes you can get inside objects that you’re not supposed to (Emily’s head for example).

Gameplay: 3.5

Emily - the main character of the game is a ghost of once very strange and depressed girl whose parents kept her in the basement - a great cure for your child’s psychological problems. Now she’s even more depressed and along with her dolls (Kiki, Mr. Tatters, and Chester) seeks revenge and goes after a random pizza delivery guy which is you.

You start off entering the house because it was raining heavily and the door shuts behind you. You see one of the dolls right away, and then you have to explore the house for clues of how to get out of there and survive. The time in the game is from 11 pm until 6 am, each hour is a level in which you have to figure out how to interact with Emily or either of her friends. If you don’t figure it out, they’ll kill you, and you’ll start at the beginning of that hour.

There are different options of how to avoid death - it’s not only run away. And you have to be careful because some of the clues are treacherously misleading.

Controls: 3

There’s one main thing you have to do in this game - move. Once in a while, you have to open doors and interact with objects, and that’s it. Sometimes it’s difficult to understand what object you can interact with and which you can’t. You have to perform a definite set of moves to make Emily and her dolls to leave and sometimes it’s hard to do that because controls are kind of faulty.

Replay Value: 1

One-time game only because you know exactly what time Emily shows up and what you have to do to get rid of her. Basically, if you’ve finished the game and you play it for the second time, you could complete all levels for 10 minutes max, but you can’t speed up the time. Also, there’s nothing to look at in this game which you could come back for, even Emily herself and the dolls look rather mediocre - exactly how you would expect them to look.

Conclusion

From this Emily Wants To Play review you already know that this game isn’t good. The graphics are bad, the gameplay isn’t original, and controls aren’t good too. It’s scary only because it made poorly so you can’t see things clearly, hence you’re afraid of uncertainty. The sounds here a just a little scary and not original as well, they don’t invest too much into your gaming experience.
